Mental Health is About More Than ‘In the Mind’
It’s great that Prince Harry and Prince William are doing what they can to decrease the stigma about mental health and getting people to talk more.
Here’s some facts from www.mentalhealth.org.uk
- Mental health problems are one of the main causes of the overall disease burden worldwide.1
- Mental health and behavioural problems (e.g. depression, anxiety and drug use) are reported to be the primary drivers of disability worldwide, causing over 40 million years of disability in 20 to 29-year-olds.2
- Major depression is thought to be the second leading cause of disability worldwide and a major contributor to the burden of suicide and ischemic heart disease.3
- It is estimated that 1 in 6 people in the past week experienced a common mental health problem4
So what can we do?
Well first it’s important to realise that the brain is the most stress vulnerable, toxin vulnerable, energy dependent, and nutrition dependent organ in the body.
While most psychologists and mental health workers target stress, and also use drugs to modify brain behaviour, the 3 areas of toxins, energy and nutrition are almost universally neglected.
What does this mean?
It means that there are thousands, if not millions of people with mental health problems, that could be completely cured IF they detoxed, where well nourished, and exercised in the right way.
I covered a lot of this last year:
And here’s some of the latest research on the links between brain health, your gut, what you eat, and the environment:
I don’t expect you to read all the above articles, but I do want you to realise that mental health is not all ‘in the mind’, it is actually all around us, and very much tied to our need to clean up our environment.
Many Functional Medicine practitioners around the world find adults and children with ADHD, depression, bi-polar, schizophrenia, addictions, self-harming tendencies, memory loss etc. can improve with techniques and protocols that are natural, available to anyone, and have long lasting results.
This is urgent to share, and urgent to take action on.
If you’d like to discuss any of this with me then just ask.
