lowering fevers may cost livesI’ve said it before – lowering a fever with drugs like ibuprofen and paracetamol may often be the wrong thing to do.

For one, it slows the immune system.

The drugs themselves interfere with the healing process.

But now there is evidence that shows the practice of lowering fevers in colds and flu may be causing up to 1000 deaths a year. (Proceedings of the Royal Society B, 2014; 281: 1778 20132570)
